Honoring MLK Day as RTS Enters Its 25th Year

January 19, 2026

As the world paused on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day to reflect on the values of service, justice, and collective responsibility, Roads to Success marked an incredibly meaningful moment in our history.

On January 19, 2026, our team came together across Bronx and Brooklyn for a Day of Service, and in doing so, we did more than honor a national day of reflection. We embraced the very ideals that have guided Roads to Success for a quarter century.

This year is special. It marks RTS’s 25th year of service to young people, families, and communities. To begin this milestone year on MLK Day wasn’t just symbolic, it was deeply fitting.

Sheila Duke, RTS CEO said,

"Dr. King called on all of us to answer the “fierce urgency of now.” At Roads to Success, that call has guided our work for 25 years. Every program delivered, every relationship built, and every young person supported is an act of hope and a step toward a more just and equitable future. There is no better day to launch our anniversary year than one rooted in service, purpose, and the belief that together we can create lasting change.
Every program delivered, every young person supported, and every relationship built has been an act of hope and progress. And as we step into our 25th year, that tradition of purpose continues with even greater clarity and intention.
Launching our anniversary year in service felt right, not just because it honors Dr. King, but because it reflects who we are."

Our day was spent volunteering at two remarkable partner organizations:

  • Part of the Solution in the Bronx
  • The Campaign Against Hunger in Brooklyn

Thank you to both organizations for welcoming us so warmly and for providing us with the opportunity to serve alongside you. You opened your doors, your hearts, and your mission to us, and we are profoundly grateful.

Through packing bags, organizing supplies, preparing meals, and simply being present in service, our team lived Dr. King’s legacy in real time. We weren’t just volunteering; we were strengthening the fabric of community and affirming the belief that service is something we do, not something we simply talk about.

Twenty-five years is more than a milestone, it’s a legacy built by thousands of shared moments like this one.

Here’s to 25 years of impact, and to the many years of service, growth, and possibility still to come.
