Roads to Success

Last week, 40 youth from the Bronx embarked on an unforgettable journey, traveling 850 miles by bus to Atlanta, Georgia, to attend the three-day Invest Fest, held from August 22–24, 2025.

This all-expenses-paid trip was made possible through a powerful collaboration between Roads to Success (RTS), Council Member Kevin Riley (District 12), and AIMHIGH, united by one mission:

To give Bronx youth a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for exposure, inspiration, and growth.

Throughout the weekend, the young participants immersed themselves in workshops, panels, and networking sessions led by some of the brightest minds in business, entertainment, and entrepreneurship. They didn’t just attend, they showed up with energy, curiosity, and purpose, embodying the spirit of learning and leadership that defines RTS youth.

Among the many standout moments, RTS youth Michael earned a $2,500 scholarship for an idea he pitched during the festival, a proud testament to his vision, preparation, and courage. Together with Jex, another Bronx youth who earned a $1,000 scholarship, they returned home with $3,500 in scholarships, a symbol of possibility for all their peers.

Reflecting on the weekend, Sheila Duke, CEO of Roads to Success, shared:

“Being on the ground with our youth, watching them step into rooms they’ve never been in before and owning their place with confidence, made me so proud. What I saw at Invest Fest was more than just excitement, it was hope and dreams taking root. Our youth walked away knowing that their voices and futures matter, and that, to me, is the greatest investment of all.”

Council Member Kevin Riley, who was also a featured speaker at Invest Fest, emphasized the importance of access and representation. He shared that we must continue creating opportunities like this space where youth not only witness Black excellence firsthand but also envision themselves as part of it. His vision and leadership made this extraordinary experience possible, and his commitment to uplifting Bronx youth continues to inspire us all.

This success was a collective effort, a reflection of the youth who showed up with open hearts, the parents who trusted us, the dedicated RTS team who worked tirelessly through the long weekend, and our partners who believed in what was possible.

Invest Fest 2024 was more than just a trip.
It was a powerful statement that when Bronx youth are given access, exposure, and belief, they rise.
