June 24, 2026

New York City – Roads to Success Board of Directors and CEO Sheila Duke announce the appointment of Larry Hackett as the new Board Chair in June 2026. A longtime media executive, journalist and passionate storyteller committed to empowering New York City’s youth, Larry succeeds Gregorio Concha-Toro, who served as Board Chair for the last five years.

For 25 years, Roads to Success (RTS), a nonprofit organization, has inspired children and young adults to take control of their futures by providing access to an equitable path to success. Roads to Success programs are located city wide in over 30 schools serving over 8,000 students in PreK-12 to young adults each year through a comprehensive approach that encompasses academic support, social-emotional learning, workforce skills development, financial literacy, wellness and post-secondary orientation.

“As Roads to Success enters its next chapter, I am thrilled to partner with Larry Hackett as our new Board Chair. Larry's visionary leadership, unwavering commitment to youth, and belief in the transformative power of opportunity make him the ideal leader for this moment,” said Sheila Duke, CEO,Roads to Success. “Together, we will build on 25 years of impact, strengthen our foundation, and boldly pursue an even greater future for the thousands of young people and families we serve. I am excited for what lies ahead, because when purpose-driven leadership and mission-driven service come together, extraordinary things happen.”

A New York native, Larry Hackett first joined the board in 2010 and served until 2020. Since rejoining the board in 2024, Larry has proven to be a driven, enthusiastic, and tireless champion of the organization’s mission. His knowledge and connections in the city are wide and deep, and his eagerness to reach out on behalf of Roads to Success is invaluable.

Larry was born in Inwood in Upper Manhattan and raised in New Jersey. He was a long time editor and reporter at the Daily News, and then spent eight years as the Editor-in-Chief of 'People Magazine', one of the most popular publications in American history. He has produced podcasts, written columns for international publications, and is a contributor to ABC News. He is the former president of the American Society of Magazine Editors.

"Teamwork, self-confidence, encouragement and opportunity are the tools every young person needs to succeed. In this city, perhaps the richest in the world, too many of our youth grow up without these tools," said Larry Hackett. "Roads to Success is committed to providing those essential foundations to every young person in this town, and I'm committed to helping realize Sheila's vision. I'm honored to be serving such a worthwhile organization."
