A Day of Curiosity, Innovation, and Possibility: RTS STEM Fair 2026

April 21, 2026

With deep gratitude to AT&T, our premier partner, Roads to Success proudly hosted the 2026 RTS STEM Fair on April 9 at East Harlem Scholars Academy High School, bringing together over 175 elementary and middle school students from across New York City for a day of hands-on learning, discovery, and inspiration.

As RTS celebrates its 25th year of service, this year’s STEM Fair carried even greater significance. A reflection of our continued commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for youth to explore, grow, and envision what’s possible.

From the moment students walked in, the energy was unmistakable. Classrooms transformed into hubs of exploration, where young people didn’t just learn about STEM, they experienced it.

Students explored how the brain and body communicate in a hands-on Neuroscience workshop, experimenting with perception, reaction time, and even “tricking” their sense of taste. In AI or Not?, they stepped into the world of artificial intelligence, learning how machines think through pattern recognition and real-world examples.

Creativity met technology in Design & Laser Cutting, where students brought their ideas to life. Meanwhile, the Science of Weather workshop turned learning into a fun, interactive experience, complete with edible “cloud parfaits” that illustrated atmospheric concepts.

Throughout the day, students collaborated, asked questions, tested ideas, and most importantly, began to see themselves as problem-solvers, innovators, and future leaders.

“As Roads to Success celebrates 25 years of empowering young people, we remain deeply committed to creating opportunities that spark curiosity and expand what’s possible for the next generation,” said Sheila Duke, Chief Executive Officer of Roads to Success. “Our STEM Fair is about more than hands-on learning. It’s about helping youth see themselves as future innovators and leaders.”

That vision was evident in every interaction, whether students were engaging with mentors, participating in engineering challenges, or sharing their own ideas and discoveries.

This year’s STEM Fair was made possible through the generous support of AT&T, whose commitment to digital equity and education continues to create meaningful opportunities for young people.

“At AT&T, we’re committed to helping ensure that every community can thrive in the digital age,” said John Emra, President, AT&T Northeast. “We’re proud to collaborate with organizations like Roads to Success to bring real opportunities and resources to New York City youth.”

Through this partnership, students were not only introduced to STEM concepts, but also to the real-world pathways and possibilities that exist within these fields.

With students joining from RTS programs across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, the STEM Fair became a true celebration of community, connection, and shared purpose. Moments of curiosity turned into moments of confidence. Questions turned into ideas. And ideas began to shape visions for the future.

As we reflect on this incredible day, one thing is clear: When young people are given access, exposure, and encouragement, their potential is limitless.

The 2026 STEM Fair is just one example of how Roads to Success continues to invest in the next generation, creating spaces where youth feel seen, supported, and inspired to dream bigger.

As we step into the next chapter of our work, we remain committed to building pathways that empower every young person to succeed.

Here’s to 25 years of impact, and to the many futures still to be shaped.
